Next Read On Me ("we," "us," or "our") operates nextreadonme.com, a book recommendation service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.
Information we collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address and any optional profile information you choose to provide (display name, bio, avatar). When you use the service, we store your reading history (books you've read, want to read, and are currently reading), ratings, reviews, reading goals, mood preferences, and feedback on recommendations we show you. We also collect basic device and usage information through analytics.
How we use your information
We use your reading history and preferences to generate personalized book recommendations via our AI partner. We use your profile information to power social features like friend connections, book sharing, and public profiles (which you can make private in your settings). We use aggregated analytics to understand how the app is used and improve it over time. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Third-party services
We rely on a small set of trusted service providers to run the app. Supabase handles our authentication and database. Anthropic Claude generates the AI-powered book recommendations based on the reading data you provide us. Vercel hosts the application. PostHog provides product analytics. Each of these providers has its own privacy policy; by using Next Read On Me you agree that your data may be processed by them as needed to deliver the service.
Cookies and tracking
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We also use analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage patterns. We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.
Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or fraud-prevention reasons.
Your rights
You can access, update, or delete your information at any time from your account settings. You can request a full export of your data or complete account deletion by emailing us at hello@nextreadonme.com. If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively, including the right to object to processing and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Children's privacy
Next Read On Me is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through the app. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
